Inspired in their youth by Leonard Bernstein’s Young People’s Concerts, the versatile musicians of Ensemble Intermezzo are dedicated to sharing the transformative experience of great music with audiences of all ages. Their chamber music programs transcend stylistic boundaries, reflecting their passion for music in its many forms and genres.
Performances often feature works by celebrated composers, enriched with engaging commentary and original arrangements of popular classics, jazz, folk music, spirituals, art songs, opera, and music from stage and screen.
Ensemble Intermezzo delights audiences with their vibrant performances in both formal and informal settings. Available as an instrumental duo or trio, they can also collaborate with a vocalist under the ensemble name Lyric Intermezzo. The current core members include pianist John Colonna, cellist Ruth Berry, and oboist Cathryn Jones.
As Leonard Bernstein said,
Loudly proclaim the infinite variety of music!
