The Kiokee String Quintet takes its name from the historic Kiokee Baptist Church in Appling, Georgia, where the Quintet presented one of its premiere performances with founding members Ryan Kho (violin), Jonathan Aceto (violin), Carl Purdy (viola), Ruth Berry (cello) and Sara Neal Lokey (double bass). That memorable performance was part of a regional concert tour in which Quintet was featured with the Warren Baptist Church Choir and pianist Charlotte Jenkins, under the direction of Kevin Pollock.
The Kiokee Quintet is an ideal accompaniment for chamber choirs and is an engaging ensemble for featured entertainment at meetings, retirement communities, worship services, weddings, dinner or luncheon parties, and receptions.
The Kiokee Quintet also specializes in educational programs. They are the perfect introduction to the string family, and have designed an educational program (coordinated with Georgia and South Carolina Learning Standards) called Music Changes With The World, that is currently performed throughout the Greenville County, SC elementary schools.
